Caper Cat 14 in good condition ready to sail as is! Very exciting running in a strong breeze. Some Caper 14s have had resin poured through the hulls weighing them down. This one will happily ride with one hull in the air. With two large storage areas in each hull this model was designed to carry 4 people and gear for a few days. Two of the compartments are a metre long and 50cm deep easily storing sails, jackets and other equipment. Boat has been tarped when not in use.
Much spent improving both boat and trailer.
BOAT:
- All new 650kg strength UV stabilised halyards, tramp rope and main sheet runner rope.
- Replaced both main and jib sail. They are free of rips/tears except one 2cm line on the main where I pushed a batten through too far. This has been patched. Original main and jib included as spares.
- Jib furler fitted to allow furling from the tramp.
- Rudders replaced with genuine metal Calypso sand rudders. Old rudders included as spares.
- Many new pulleys and cleats on the mast and boom.
- Extra strength with four mast stays instead of the conventional three.
- Manual bilge pumps in both hulls for peace of mind in open water.
- Telescopic aluminium poles added to the front (pictured) allowing easy one person mast raising. The poles form an A-frame allowing the winch to wind the mast up. There is a hook allowing the mast to pivot up into position. Raising and lowering the mast without the poles and winch can be tricky even with a second person.
- There are a few scratches on the hulls from contacting the trailer.
- Mast float.
TRAILER:
- Registered to January 2015.
- Large (2.5x1.2m) mesh base storage area between hulls. Easily fits two kayaks and camping gear. Additional RHS sections added for strength.
- New tyres (only about 300km travelled).
- New coupling.
- All new electrical wiring and LED lights fixed high on the wheel arches. No mucking around with removable light bars.
- New bearings, seals and grease (also done 300km ago).
- New winch and strap.
- New swing away jockey wheel.
- After purchasing I've stripped the trailer back, rust converted, primed and coated with hammer finish grey Kill Rust enamel.
Located at Petrie on Brisbane's Northside. Happy to deliver within a reasonable distance.
